SecuSolutions Ltd management team is comprised of several individuals with unique strengths and skills sets. From new product conception, to implementation of Enterprise solutions, SecuSolutions Ltd management has the knowhow and ability to successfully execute plans that work. Plans that empower businesses not impede them.

Each member of the management team has overcome various challenges working in extremely demanding environments where you are rarely given a second chance at a first impression. These members have brought their knowledge of the service industry to SecuSolutions Ltd to form the nucleolus of success. Each member is dedicated to the combined success of SecuSolutions Ltd, but most of all, the success of our clients. Each member is also committed to service excellence and is devoted to turn the practice of security, into a world where confusion, anxiety, and inflated costs cease to exist.

Jim Kootnekoff
President, CEO and Founder

Mr. Kootnekoff has worked in the IT security industry for the past 11 years. During that time, he has worked both as an independent contractor in North America, and as the founder and CEO of a top tier security consulting firm based in Tokyo Japan. While in Japan, Mr. Kootnekoff led the business development and marketing of several ground breaking products and services in the Japanese security industry. Mr. Kootnekoff also provided high level security consulting, products and security education to some of the largest corporations in Japan as well as local and federal government.

Over the past 11 years Mr. Kootnekoff, has given countless speeches on the topic of security throughout Japan and abroad at both private and public venues. He has spoken on various topics of security such as Cyber Terrorism, Cyber Crime, Spyware, Malware and Phishing. He has given speeches on Security Awareness, Risk Management and best security practices in the Japanese marketplace as well as a host of other security topics. 

He has worked with Symantec Japan and other Japanese based security companies to help spread awareness of security issues that face private and public companies in Japan and around the world.

Mr. Kootnekoff brings a network of security experts consisting of some of the most elite individuals in the industry to his new company SecuSolutions Ltd.

Norman Mackenzie, BA
Chairman and Founder

Mr. Mackenzie is a founder of SecuSolutions Ltd. He has over thirty years experience in the domestic and international energy industry with companies that developed significant energy projects in the North Sea (UK and Norway), Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Egypt, Bangladesh and Libya. Mr. Mackenzie was also the founder of Scimitar Hydrocarbons Ltd. (now Rally Energy Inc.). He is currently a founder and director of Pacific Asia China Energy Inc., a Canadian company engaged in CBM development in China and Chairman and a founder of C&C Energy Canada Ltd. engaged in oil and gas exploration in Colombia, South America.

Companies that Mr. Mackenzie has been associated with over the past thirty years have developed over one billion barrels of oil and one trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

Mr. Mackenzie's knowledge of international business and markets is a key asset to SecuSolutions Ltd. going forward.

Zak Karbalai
Director of Business Development [Int'l]

Zak is a professional with 25 years of experience in the IT industry. He has built profitable business and product offerings in the area of data communications, datacentres, networking and security. He has also provided services in the areas of security project management, risk management, IT infrastructure, privacy, wireless networks and eSecurity. He has provided advice and services to clients on such matters as building secure network infrastructures to support business applications, integrating networks during corporate acquisitions, building corporate internet firewalls, setting up disaster recovery sites, co-location facilities and business continuity strategies, and establishing corporate and IT security policies and procedures.

Professionally working in variety of industries including automotive, retail, airline, finance, government, health care, oil & gas and telecom/utilities, Zak has built a legacy of experience and practical know-how on information security - from project management and implementation of Air Canada's cargo network to corporate governance (privacy) and wireless networks - and has established a portfolio of influential clients and contacts in the information security industry in North America, Europe and Asia. Zak is designated as a 'Certified Information Systems Security Professional' (CISSP) and has assisted law enforcement on information security endeavors including the G8 summit in Calgary.

Ken Inkster CISSP, BS7799 Lead Auditor
Technical Director

Mr. Ken Inkster is the Technical Director for SecuSolutions Ltd.  Ken possesses an in depth knowledge of management and technical security issues. Ken has provided solid security advice from the server room to the executive boardroom covering all all levels and aspects of security. He has provided consultation on topics such as security acceptance, strategic and technical planning, marketing security, architecture design, cultural acceptance and security implementation. Ken brings more than 22 years of technical experience to SecuSolutions Ltd. During those years, he has been provided consulting from small private companies to large global public companies based in Japan, Canada, US, and Bermuda. Clients have included the likes of, IBM Japan, Shinsei Bank, Telus, Bell World, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), Fraser Milner Casgrain, Mizuno Sports Japan, Pioneer Japan, DoCoMo Systems Japan, Microsoft, Intria-HP, Alberta Treasury Branch, President’s Choice Financial, Shell Canada, BP Amoco Canada, Foreign Governments, Law Enforcement and Government Institutions.  

Mr. Inkster has performed innumerable risk assessments which included external compliance such as Payment Card Industry, SOX, internal and external audit requirements, and the Alberta Personal Information Protection Act PIPA. Other areas of expertise include risk management, policy development, log management, patch management, change control and business continuity planning.

Mr. Inkster has participated in several attack and penetration teams and has successfully secured many medium and enterprise networks. Mr. Inkster will help SecuSolutions Ltd to keep in step with the ever changing security industry and will ensure our clients continue to receive unsurpassed service and value.

Micheal Welch CISSP, CISA, CISM, IAM, CHS-III
Corporate Security Advisor

Michael Welch is a Information Security professional with over ten years experience managing corporate networks, performing security architecture reviews, business risk assessments (Gap Analysis), attack and penetration tests, network and host assessments and firewall reviews. Michael Welch is a graduate from George Washington University with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Mr. Welch's technology career has led him through a diversified portfolio of opportunities in which he has built a name and reputation on quality and dependability. He has developed virtual learning solutions and is recognized as a subject matter expert in the information security sector, and he has worked both domestically and internationally in all facets of his career. Mr. Welch has actively engaged in physical and information security consulting projects, which included compliance (NERC, HIPAA, SOX)planning, security assessments, secure architecture design, policy planning and development, security training, high-tech crime investigations and computer forensics.

Mr. Welch brings an in depth knowledge of corporate security practices, security compliance and an extensive knowledge of security education. This knowledge will help SecuSolutions to continue to provide medium and large enterprises with top level security services at a fair value cost.

Mr. Welch is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), InfoSec Assessment Methodology Certified (IAM) and Certified Homeland Security - Level 3 (CHS-III).

Brennan Kootnekoff
Chief SecuScan Engineer

Brennan Kootnekoff is the Chief SecuScan Engineer for SecuSolutions. Brennan has worked in the IT industry for the past 5 years and has been specializing on Linux server environments for over 6 years. Brennan is proficient in most every major distribution there is (Red Hat, Mandrake, Ubuntu, Gentoo, Slackware). Brennan also has extensive experience with PHP/SQL programming for the creation and expansion of a major Japanese portal site - an asset that will be essential for the future plans and development of SecuScan product line.

Brennan has worked closely with the development team since the inception of SecuScan, and has an in-depth knowledge of the front and back-end of the service. Brennan will be involved with various aspects of the service - such as infrastructure design, expansion support, and further development of SecuScan. Other areas Brennan will be assisting SecuSolutions is the general administration of the network, including server configuration, administration and client-side setup, configuration, troubleshooting and support.
